Oil on cardboard.
Wöbkemeier 22. Signed and dated lower right. Once more signed and dated as well as inscribed "63" and "Waldtal (auf den Dürnbachwasserfall zuführend)" on the reverse. 73,6 : 41,3 cm (28,9 : 16,2 in). An early work of the artist’s with an intriguing composition and palette showing that Walter Dexel, probably under the influence of contemporaries and especially the Expressionists, strove to achieve new forms of expression by their handling of form and an unusual palette. PROVENIENZ: From the artist's estate.
In good condition. With minimal squeeze marks in places of edges, partly originating from the making. Few insignificant scratch marks, also partly originating from the making. Tiny isolated colour flakings, however, not interfering with the overall impression.
