In 1918 the proofs were sold to a group of collectors who allowed them to be reproduced in this volume where they are much truer to the originals than the projected heliogravures would have been. Potin engraved and printed each plate by hand. This book is included in the exhibition since it contains Degas' only book illustration specifically planned for that purpose."
