Macculloch, from photographs supplied by the London Photographic and Stereoscopic Company, taken exclusively for this work by St. Thompson (lithogr. title in vol. I: Meisterwerke gewerblicher und bildender Kunst in der Weltausstellung im Jahre 1862 von J. B. Waring. London bei Day & Son). 6 vols. With 4 (3 in colours) lithogr. titlesn (1 in German), 301 chromolithogr. plates and 301 ll. with lithogr. German text. London, Day 1863. Somewhat later half calf with gilt ornamental decoration on spine and blind-tooled, front cover with diamond-shaped calf frame, gilt title. Folio.

German title page. - Each vol. discussed one topic: I: Work of wood (furniture and wall decorations). - II: Work of metal (dishes, candelabra, bronze etc.). - III: Work of glas, porcelain and terracotta (vases and tiling). - IV: Textiles (arras, curpet etc.). - V: Sculptures of different materials (wood, bronze, marble etc.). - VI: Work of leather and work of gold and silver (bindings, casket etc.). - Each plate with 2 ll. text explanations in English, French and German. Accompanying text with information about producing country, firms and artists. - Partly slightly foxed, some ll. slightly waterstained. Spine partly restored (1 spine renewed using the orig. material), 1 binding with scratches, 2 covers with small repairs. - Fine copy.
