From Presler Skb 110. On the reverse inscribed "Von Erna Kirchner erworben Lise Gujer" (acquired from Erna Kirchner) by Lise Gujer. On creme wove paper. 21.2 x 17 cm (8.3 x 6.6 in), size of sheet.
The sheet coms from the sketchbook 110 (see Prof. Dr. Dr. Gerd Presler, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Die Skizzenbücher - Ekstase des ersten Sehens, Weingarten 1996, p. 304). [CH].
• Brightly colored, dynamic circus scene from Kirchner's sketchbook, which he carried with him on his trip through Germany in 1925/26.
• Best possible provenance: From the collection of Lise Gujer, Swiss textile artist and Kirchner's close friend (1893-1967).
• Circus, dance, theater and cabaret play a major role in Kirchner's entire expressionist oeuvre
