• This work is one of the artist's early post-impressionist still lifes which are characterized by a clarified duct and expressive colors.
• From the best period of creation in which Herbin turned to Fauvism.
• In 1907 Herbin and other Fauvist protagonists showed works at the Salon d'Autonome.
• Duct and colors show clear parallels with the contemporaneous creation of Henry Matisse and André Derain.
• The similar still life "Nature morte aux Chysanthemes" (Claisse 50) is part of the collection of the Museé Matisse, Le Cateau-Cambrésis
.
