Watercolor over graphite.
Signed, dated and titled in lower right. On J. W. Zanders laid paper (with watermark). 55.4 x 69.8 cm (21.8 x 27.4 in), the full sheet. [JS].

• Masterly composed large-size townscape in vernal colors.
• Shown in the 1976 solo show at the Brücke-Museum, Berlin.
• In 1940 Erich Heckel and his wife Sidi visited Salzburg for the very first time.
• Erich Heckel, along with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff and Fritz Bleyl, was among the founding members of the expressionist artist group "Brücke"
