• Subtle, spontaneous-atmospheric drawings by the great expressionist and later Bauhaus artist.
• In this work Feininger presumbaly sketched two London or Paris street scenes. In September 1908 Julia and Lyonel Feininger got married in London, in October they spent several weeks in Paris.
Achim Moeller, director of the Lyonel Feininger Project LLC, New York/Berlin, confirmed this work's authenticity. It is registered at the Lyonel Feininger Project with the number 1662-08-18-20.
PROVENANCE: Collection Alois Jakob Schardt, Halle/Berlin/Los Angeles (as present from the artist).
Private collection (inherited from aforementioned).
Achim Moeller Fine Art Ltd., New York (acquired in 1990, with typographically inscribed gallery label on rear of the frame, until 1992).
