Ohne Titel (Sniphy). 1962.
Signed in lower right and verso once more signed, as well as dated. On board. 99.5 x 64.8 cm (39.1 x 25.5 in) , the full sheet.
Verso with the artist's typical "Pfeifenmännchen" (Pipe Man, his stylized self portrait) and a heart, as well as a personal dedication: "Dieser 'Sniphy' ist für Rolf-Gunter Dienst. Ich schenke ihm diese Gouache anlässlich seines ersten Besuchs im schönen Westerwald. Wolfenacker, den 6.4.1978". [CH].

The work will be included into the forthcoming catalog raisonné of works on paper/board. We are grateful to Mr Joachim Lissmann, K. O. Götz and Rissa Foundation, for his kind expert advice.

PROVENANCE: From the estate of Rolf-Gunter Dienst (1942-2016), obtained as present from the artist in 1978 (verso with a personal dedication).
