Between 1882 and 1886 Paul Baum made several study trips to the northern coast of the Baltic Sea, for instance to the the town of Schwaan near Rostock - home of his panter colleague Franz Bunke, with whom he was staying. He also went to Hamburg and Holland, which would become his preferred source of motifs over the following years. [FS]
