Noack Berlin Friedenau". One of around 30 posthumously executed casts. Ca. 9.8 x 14.5 x 4 cm (3.8 x 5.7 x 1.5 in) , without base. The donkey 'Fritze' was a gift from the art dealer Paul Cassirer and became part of the Gaul family around 1907. Fritze inspired Gaul to a series of six works called "Eselei", in which he made several motion studies of the animal. [JS].
