Our sheet is a great document of Karl Schmidt-Rottluff's talents in the art of watercolors. With modesty he employs the colors' illuminative forces in order to dispaly the atmopsheric play of light of the setting sun. Eventually, only few color values are used, but their expressiveness is even stronger. By such means the watercolor is taken beyond the mere coloring and becomes and independent form of artistic expression.
