From December 1957 to February 1958 Picasso made a number of portraits that were of great importance to him. He changed and worked the single states over, at times on the same plate and in his characteristic energetic manner, in order to attain a result that would satisfy him, in order to integrated them into his vast graphic creation. In this work he executed the image right onto the zinc in India ink (date in chalk), and thus achieved to create the airy effect of bot the hair as well as the blouse. [DB].
