LITERATURE: Hans Hildebrandt (publisher), Oskar Schlemmer, Munich 1952, no. 793.

In the isolation of his last years of creation, a time when he made the famous series of the small and mystic Fensterbilder' (Window Picture), this drawing was also made (1942). It shows a group of three figures composed of fine India ink lines and color accents that contrast the ground, so that they form a self-contained group. In its classic elegance and simplification of the visual formula the figures are close to Oskar Schlemmer‘s famous profile heads. Even though these heads were made during Schlemmer’s days at the Bauhaus, the artist still resorted to this form in the 1940s.This is why this small study is particularly appealing, additionally it delivers proof of Oskar Schlemmer‘s creative powers that prevailed throughout his oeuvre.
