Max Liebermann used a detail from the wall painting "Der Winter", which he had painted for Schloß Klink in 1898/99, for the motif of this drawing (Eberle 1898/34). [KP].
This work's authenticity has kindly been confirmed orally by Drs. Margreet Nouwen, Berlin. We are grateful for her expert advice.
