What is most remarkable about this drawing is how the buildings are clustered to an architectural complex. This is where Kirchner‘s architecture studies take effect. This impression is even more increased by the strong strokes of the ink brush, which add a compact architectural expression to the composition. Additionally, they allot a minor role to the staffage, such as center rondel and the two figures in lower right, which are only hinted at. [EH].
