This work occupies a special position within the oeuvre of Ludwig von Hofmann, as it unites all artistic elements that characterized the artist’s creation at the brink to Modernism in an exemplary manner: on the one hand he puts an emphasis on the surface, which is increased to a style of reduced forms and thus creates a clear composition, a trait showing influence of Art Nouveau, on the other hand, the choice of colors and the bodies‘ excitement show an obvious expressiveness.
