Lowndes 215. - Keynes 81. - First edition with the illustrations by Blake . - "This book .. contains one of Blake's most widely known series of designs. The designs were produced during 1805, and in that year Cromek isued a Prospectus .. in which it was stated that Blake was himself to be the engraver" (Keynes). - The portrait of Wiliam Blake by L. Schiavonetti after T. Phillips, the title as well as the copperplates by Schiavonetti after Blake. - Printed on firm laid paper with "J. W. Hatman 1808" watermark. - Thumbed, title and portrait with small rebacked marginal blemishes. Fine broad-margined copy.

First edition. With engr. porträt, engr. title and 11 copperplates. Mod. spotted calf in cloth slipcase. - Fingerstained, title and portrait with backed marginal tears. Altogether fine wide-margined copy.
