Very early work, adding on to a series of three compositions with Italian motifs, which the artist painted during a journey through Italy in 1913. (Cf. Wöbkemeier 38-41). Alexander Kanoldt, whom Dexel highly treasured and who would later become one of the most important representatives of New Objectivity, is definitely worthwhile mentioning as model and source of inspiration. [DB].

Accompanied by an expertise issued by Frau Ruth Wöbkemeier, Bremen, dated 10 September 2008.
