Rennbahnszene. 1922.
Oil on canvas.

PROVENANCE: Private collection Saxony.

This picture is a prime example of his numerous depictions of scenes from the horse tracks, which are predominant in Dill‘s œuvre. Capturing the moment in swift and pastose colors supports the visual impression of movement, however, not putting the harmony of the composition into question. As a representative of German Impressionism, Dill executes his paintings in this style up until the middle of the 20\up5 th century. Whether it is jockeys or fidgety horses waiting for the starter's gun or still full of power after the race remains unclear and makes for the energetic charm of the picture. [EH].

In very good condition. Few tiny retouchings.
