Sitzender mit erhobenen Armen. 1932/33.
Bronze with brown patina.
With the monogram on the underside. Height: 22 cm (8.6 in).
The original plaster and possibly the bronze or zinc cast were lost during his lifetime. In 1993, Isermeyer mentions only two later casts in private ownership (including his own copy). [KA].
• Very rare. One of only two known bronze re-casts.
• Inspired by ancient imagery, the figure is a beautiful representation of human proportions.
• In 2006, Blumenthal's artistic work was honored in the exhibition “Sterngucker. Hermann Blumenthal und seine Zeit” at the Georg-Kolbe-Museum in Berlin, on the occasion of the artist's 100th birthday.
PROVENANCE: Dr. C. A. Isermeyer, Hamburg.
Galerie Wilhelm Grosshennig, Düsseldorf.
