• Clarenbach captures the fleeting moment of the sea on the canvas in a superbly nuanced, light color scheme.
• His first study trips took him to the Dutch North Sea coast as early as 1895.
• This is where a fruitful exchange occurred between the Dutch Hague School and the Düsseldorf Academy's artists.
• In the work, the characteristically light and harmonious tonality of the coastal dune landscape come into their own.
