• In the year of its creation, the painting attracted nationwide attention in Germany through an exhibition at Galerie Heinemann in Munich.
• Karl Hagemeister is considered one of the most important German landscape painters around the turn of the century.
• In 1898, he co-founded the Berlin Secession with Max Liebermann and others.
