• Renowned provenance: in possession of, among others, Galerie Arnold in Dresden and part of the collection of Marie Hauptmann, first wife of the author Gerhart Hauptmann.
• Böckstiegel's picture originate from the immediate sensation and a deeply felt connection with rural life and nature.
• Other than his fellow students, Böckstiegel did not find motifs in urban Bielefeld, but focussed on the familiar surroundings of Arrode.
• He developed the style of his great artistic role model van Gogh to a painting that almost entirely does without contours and in which the motifs dissolve through superimposed layer of paints.
