Signed and dated in lower right of the image. Titled on the reverse. On firm brownish paper (embossed "David Cox drawing"). 56.2 x 69.8 cm (22.1 x 27.4 in), the full sheet. [JS].
The work is mentioned in the Gerlinger Collection with the SHG number 516 a.
• Large-size watercolor with a marvelous free composition, a particularly remarkable example of Heckel's graphic gift.
• Atmospheric Ticino spring landscape, in which Heckel stages the clear white snow on the peaks and the snowmelt in an expresssive mountain setting.
• More than three decades after he had made the watercolor, Heckel created the painting "Im Bleniotal" (1956, also part of the Gerlinger Collection).
