Sammelband mit drei seltenen botanisch-zoologischen Werken unter medizinischem Aspekt. Behandelt Absinth, Schwarzwurzel und Hirsche.
Graba, J. A. , Elaphographia (graece) sive cervi descriptio physico-medico-chymica, in qua tam cervi in genere, quam in specie ipsius partium consideratio theorico-practica instituitur. Jena, J. Nisius für J. Trescher in Breslau, 1667. 312 S., 20 Bll. (d.l.w.). - Erste Ausgabe, Ferguson unbekannt geblieben ("Some of the authorities quote a 1667 edition"). A fine Sammelband with 3 rare medico-botanical and -zoological works in first editions. Contemp. vellum. - I. With 3 engr. plates, folding woodcut and folding address to the Academia Leopoldina (often lacking). Important monograph on the medical and pharmaceutical uses of absinthe. This appears to be the first work devoted exclusively to the subject. The author was founder and president of the German Academy of Sciences. - II. With engr. allegorical frontispiece and 4 engr. plates. Monograph on salsify, with an appendix about the medical properties of "fossil unicorn". - III. "In three sections, the first treating of the Deer in general, the second of the Deer in a theological aspect, and the third and longest section giving recipes for the use of every part of the Deer's body in medicine" (Schwerdt). - Browning due to paper quality. Else well-preserved.(R)
