Bottom right signed. With a hand-written number and a label on the reverse. 51 x 39.5 cm (20 x 15.5 in).
• Hendrik Willem Mesdag was one of the main representatives of the impressionist Hague School.
• The fishing boats observed on the beach of Scheveningen near The Hague are a characteristic motif in his work.
• Mesdag combines the traditional Dutch marine genre with a modern, impressionist form of expression.

PROVENANCE: Kohn & Hancke Buch- und Kunsthandlung, Wroclaw (presumably before 1900, with a label on the reverse).
Private collection Switzerland (with the address stamp on the reverse).
