Spaziergänger im Park. 1912.
Brush and India ink drawing, with pencil in margins.
Heiderich 1245. With the collector's stamp of Arnold Blome (vgl. Lugt 4041) in bottom right on the paper and on the backing board. Dated "1914" on the reverse. With the August Macke estate stamp (Lugt 1775b) on the reverse of the backing board, there numbered "C 40"; titled and dated "Spaziergänger mit Kind im Park 1913" by a hand other than that of the artist and inscribed "Rückseitig dat. 1914". On wove paper. 23 x 22 cm (9 x 8.6 in), size of sheet.
[KT].
• From Macke's best creative period after the first success in the surroundings of the Blauer Reiter, when Macke began to pursue an individual path in terms of form and motif.
• Marvelous moved and light park scene, its summerly airiness is reflected by the brushwork.
• Between graphic and painterly expression, Macke creates a harmonious composition that is still characterized by the spontaneity of a direct observation.
• Key motif in Macke's art, who showed a strong interest in urban life and people moving about the city, strolling the promenades in elegant hats.
PROVENANCE: Collection Arnold Blome (1894-1972), Bremen (with two collector stamp).
Graphisches Kabinett, Kunsthandel Wolfgang Werner, Bremen (with a label on the rear board).
Collection Richard König, Duisburg.
Private collection Rhineland.
