• Part of the same private collection for almost 50 years.
• From the best "Brücke" times.
• Dance and variety play a particularly important position in Pechstein's oeuvre and in the entire work of the Expressionists.
• The pen and ink drawings are related to the missing painting "Der Tanz" from the same year (Soika 1910/48), which has a similar motif.
• Pechstein invited the dancer with the voluminous trousers to his studio several times in 1909 and 1910, and also depicted her in the painting "Der Tanz" (1909, Brücke-Museum, Berlin).
• Other drawings from this creative period are at, among others, the Museum of Modern Art, New York (Liegender Akt, 1909), the Museum Ludwig, Cologne (Kopf, 1910) and the Brücke-Museum, Berlin (Zwischen Schilf, 1910).
