Verso with the estate stamp of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570 b) and the hand-written registration number "K Be/Ba 5". Verso titled "Mädchenkopf" and inscribed "Strichätzung" as well as with two direction arrows (presumably regarding a different artwork). On firm and smooth creme wove paper. 31.6 x 24 cm (12.4 x 9.4 in), nearly the full sheet. [CH].

• Characteristic, expressive figure study from the important "Brücke" period.
• Kirchner portrays the night club dancer Erna Schilling with energetic, dynamic lines, in 1911 she became Kirchner's model and partner.
• Facial expression, clothing and composition are similar to the painting "Portrait Erna Schilling" (1913, Nationalgalerie, Berlin -Gordon 298)
