Lower right signed and dated and lower left signed. Verso titled and inscribed "No. 68 der Maler". Lower left and right as well as on verso inscribed by a hand other than that of the artist. On fine Japon. 46 x 59.9 cm (18.1 x 23.5 in), size of sheet.
• Visual liaison of two of the most important German painters of New objectivity
• In 1920 George Grosz and the depicted Rudolf Schlichter faced charges for "vilification of the Reichswehr"
• From the renowned provenance of Galerie Flechtheim, Berlin
• With fine interior watercolor illustration.
The work will be included into the forthcoming catalog raisonné of works on paper compiled by Mr Ralph Jentsch. We are grateful for his kind expert advice.
