Liebermann made a total of six versions of this charming motif of the "Kleinkinderschule", the work offered here was among the first five versions. While some elements are no longer part of the final version from 1880 (Eberle 1880/1) or were strongly modified, the depiction of the sewing nanny in right of the picture remained unaltered. The final version also contains the lateral depiction of the female figure, which was shown in frontal view in the other four versions. [CH]
