Monogrammed in lower left, dated in lower right. Verso signed, dated and inscribed. 17.7 x 12.7 cm (6.9 x 5 in). Backing board: 32,5 x 25 cm (12,7 x 9,8 in).

• From the possession of Emmy "Galka" Scheyer.
• This is one of the very few Meditations with particularly intense colors and in pastose manner.
Accompanied by a certificate issued by the Alexej von Jawlensky Archive S.A., Muralto, confirming the work's inclusion into the catalog raisonné. The work will be publicized in the 4th volume of the series "Bild und Wissenschaft. Forschungsbeiträge zu Leben und Werk Alexej von Jawlenskys".
PROVENANCE: Emmy Galka Scheyer, in commission from the artist since September 1934 - presumably until 1945.
