Portraits of movie heroes and pop stars make for one of the most important work groups in Warhol's oeuvre. Next to Mick Jagger, Marilyn Monroe, Jane Fonda or Mickey Mouse, the famous Hollywood diva Liz Taylor occupies a prime rank in Warhol's array of the rich and the beautiful. In line with his common procedure, Warhol works with a photography as basis, which he enobles to a work of art. He applies the principle of Pop Art by adding a striking coloring. Warhol succeeds in rendering the breath-taking attractiveness of the Hollywood beauty Liz Taylor so much that he is able to even increase her glory.
