Signed and dated in lower right. Verso once more signed, titled, numbered "52", inscribed "München" and dedicated "Dieses Bild wurde mit einem R[..] (?) gemalt im Februar 1905/ als mir der Himmel voller Wolken hing/ für den edlen Herrn Albert Langen zu München/ Rudolf Sieck." With various numbers and old, fragmentarily preserved labels. 69.8 x 59.2 cm (27.4 x 23.3 in).

EXHIBITION: Wohl: Munich annual exhibition at Royal Glass Palace, Munich 1908 (cat. no p. 89, no. 1099 "Vorfrühling", verso with the label of "Luitpold-Gruppe, München" and a green exhibition label "1908" with number "739").
Ausstellung der Gesellschaft für Deutsche Kunst im Ausland (GDKA), Buenos-Aires no date (verso with fragmentarily preserved exhibition label).
"Oh well, [..] Your [Sieck's] favorite tree, the birch! You seem to have a preference for the 'slim line', for clear lines in general - You wouldn'tt need to be the outstanding graphcio artist that you are, and from which the outstanding painter your are grew and blossomed."
