The authenticity of the present work has been confirmed by Pierre Vasarely, President of the Fondation Vasarely, universal legatee and the moral right holder of Victor Vasarely. This work will be included in the forthcoming Catalogue Raisonné de l’Oeuvre Peint de Victor Vasarely, which is currently being compiled by the Fondation Vasarely, Aix-en-Provence.

The native Hungarian Victor Vasarely is regarded inventor and pioneer of Op-Art. His bright and large-size composition, created with remarkable precision, are characterized by an unmatched optical vehemence. From a frontal view the bright sphere seems to leave the surreal spatial composition and fly right towards the observer. In his meticulously executed compositions Vasarely is able to take the eye of the observer to a third dimension in an impressive manner. Accordingly, when observing "Dauve" from 1977, the large bulged sphere appears to leave the canvas and heads towards the observer. Especially his spherical forms develop a stunning dynamic on the painting surface. Over the course of his artsitic creation Vasarely has acquired a repertoire of geometirc forms that is entirely indepedent from previous knowledge, nationality and cultural context, comprehensible for everyone and all in line with Vasarely's democratic concept of art, which may be one of the main reasons for the enormous popularity of his work today.
