Colors are the main theme in Graubner's entire artistic production. He tracks their materiality, as well as their emotional and suggestive powers with great persistence. Gotthard Graubner's cushion pictures provide plasticity for the color, allowing for the dialog between surface and object. In this case a lilac-purple tone shines through the deep yellow. It only becomes obvious in side view that this tone was applied over a loud orange as one of the first colors. It is this virtuous treatment of the color that adds such a unique aura to Gotfried Graubner's color-space-bodies
