In our untitled work from 1967 Otto Piene delivers proof of his mastery in a subtle coloring. Using oil paint, smoke and fire, he creates a cosmic structure entirely based on the color harmony of black and red. The balanced interplay of the colorist aspect contrasts the bursting red at the center of the billowing cloudy "Sternennebel" (Star Fog): a powerful yet remote explosion that makes the elementary natural forces perceptible from a distance.
