Otto Ritschl's style became increasingly consolidated as of around 1954. While his earlier works were characterized by softer forms in a polyphonically orchestrated interplay with a free line, the geometrical elements led to more strictly organized later compositions in which the artist did without pictorial fracture and color tinging. This artistic development became more evident through his encounter with Parisian representatives of Constructivism which provided Ritschl with new inspirations. What is particularly interesting is the stringent path that Ritschl pursued over the course of just a few years: While the geometrical bodies in compositions from 1954 and 1955 are still rounded, jagged and angled elements began to dominate during 1956. Exactly organized and colorful visual accomplishments are the result, our compositions with its strong colors counts among them.
