As of the mid 1950s Fred Thieler abandoned the concept of a drawing as sketch or study. First spatula works came into existence, in terms of quality, they are at eye level with the oil paintings from that era. The paint dries quick, which is why a prompt and spontaneous handling is necessary. Our interesting work is a particularly enthralling composition. [EH]
