Heinz Mack makes light the central means of creation in his art. It is connected with positive energy, it stands for hope and progressive thinking. It was the medium of a post-war generation that had to regain orientation and that strove to create a positive new world. It was Zero's approach to make art accessible for everyone and to be an enrichment of life after the dark days of the war - and light was the essential means. For this artistic inention the material aluminum seemed to fit for Heinz Mack, it is flexible and has a perfect surface that allows different light reflections. The artist created a plastic image in geometric forms, developing channels to conduct the light and to make it artistically perceptible. The relief's archtitectural strictness makes for a nice contrast to the dancing reflections' easiness caused by light incidence. The artwork unfolds an immanent dynamic that interacts with the observer and the surroundings. [SM]
