The Fürst Alm was close to Gabriele Münter's house. It was build by Josef Fürst, the publisher of the 'Staffelsee-Bote', who had a small log cabin set up after plans from G. von Seidel in 1920. In 1928 Fürst had it enlarged by an alp building with cafeé and the same year had a "Höhen-Radio" installed. This café was a popular destination. Ödön von Horváth, of whom the artist made a portrait that same year, wrote about the Fürst-Alm: "It is the most beautiful spot on the Northern brim of the Bavarian Alps [..] Nowhere else in Upper Bavaria can a view over a typical Upper Bavarian landscape be enjoyed as much as here." (Quote after: Ödön von Horváth, Kleine Prosa, Berlin 1988, pp. 45f.).
Through her relation with Dr. Johannes Eichner, the artist regained her personal balance. She focuses on an image composition from teh days of the "Blaue Reiter". A contained style dominates her art. The autumnal atmosphere in our work suggests that the painting was made in direct connection with the painting "Weg zur Fürstalm" in October 1931. However, the focus in this painting is more on the overall landscape impression and on the autumnal atmosphere
