Bernard Aubertin associates the element fire with a glowing red. "The red gives me a feeling of identification with the fire." (B. Aubertin, in: B. Aubertin, Das Feuer und das Rot, Bielefeld 1997, p. 29). His red nail works emanate a magic charged with energy. In combination with the nails' iron, associations of red glowing metals lie close. Alone the nails' serial arrangement forces rigidity upon the image surface.
