Characteristic detail study of a Bavarian cuirassier, for the monumental painting "Reiterschlacht bei Hanau" (206 x 322 cm, Wichmann 1033), today in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich (inventiry number WAF 446). In service of crown prince Ludwig, Kobell painted the Bavarian battles of the war of liberation on a total of 12 paintings between 1808 and 1815. [CB].
