"Of very great value, and highly prized" (Jackson). "In the course of this study of some 1050 genera, about fifty of them new, Gaertner called attention to an enormous range of hitherto neglected or unknown characters of fruits and seeds available for generic distinction. His classification was intended solely for carpologival purposes but nevertheless approached as near to a natural classification as any then proposed" (Hunt). - Die Tafeln, meist von J. G.
