Erste Ausgabe dieser für die Photographie wichtigen Untersuchung über die Phosphoreszenz und andere Effekte des Lichtes, die Becquerel (1820-91) u. a. mithilfe seines konstruierten Phosphoroskopes an vielen Stoffen nachweist. "E. B. gelingt es, auf einer Daguerre'schen Platte nicht nur die blauen und ultravioletten, sondern auch die roten und gelben Teile des Spektrums abzubilden und damit den Beweis zu liefern, daß auch diese Strahlen, wenn auch nicht direkt chemisch wirken, doch imstande sind, eine angefangene chemische Wirkung fortzuführen" (Darmstaedter). - Tlw. etw. stockfl., 2 Bll. mit Randeinriß, 1 Tafel mit Knickspur, Titel vo. gestempelt.
