Nothing but ingenious, that is what must be said about the final step of combining the Mobile and the Stable, creating the so-called "Standing Mobile", filigree structures balancing on fixed stands. In the course of his career, Calder created his own fascinating world of these objects, at the end of which we find the artwork offered in our auction. In its concentrated color and form, in its delicate moments of movement and its captivating presence, the complete mastery of the late work becomes obvious. The viewer experiences an impressive play of forms that arises from both the movement of abstract organic forms as well as from moments of standstill.
