The artistic path that Otto Piene went has been strongly shaped by works whose creative process is determined or even caused by fire. Through various expoeriments ands an ever growing sensitivity for the element Piene manages to create a new and primal symbolic language. By means of shortly exposing the paint to fire, Piene developed the process of gelation on the image carrier. After the fire is out, the structure is fixated and the artist has created a synthesis of nature's organic being and the controlled interference. [DB]
