This work’s unusual fresh appearance originates from the spontaneous and direct application of the paint, which Gabriele Münter executed in a lucent manner in this work. The technique of using meager oil on firm paper is particularly characteristic of her later flower compositions. A strong contour emphasizes this compositions set up as a drawing even more, all in all, it gains its special charm through the vivid colors. [KD]
