Cardellini Signorini 63. Signed and dated lower right. 95 x 68,7 cm (37,4 x 27 in).
One of the artist's impressive portraits, his self portrait, which was made around the same time, is in the collection of the Galleria d`arte moderna, Florence (cf. Cardellini Signorini 59). The depicted person presumably is the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt, who Viani had already portraited in tempera in 1909. (Cf. Cardellini Signorini 41).
This work is the first work by the representative of Italian Expressionism to be offered on the German aucvtion market (source: www.artnet.de).
