Signed, dated, titled and with arrow indicating the direction on verso. Once more signed, dated and titled on folded canvas. 30 x 39,5 cm (11,8 x 15,5 in).
Otto Piene's strong composition in red and black references the tradition of the so-called "Osterräder"(Easter Wheels), which is celebrated on Easter Sunday in town of Lügde. In analogy to the six burning straw wheels that roll down into the valley, Otto Piene processed the canvas with fire, giving it its archaic appeal. [KP].
